Vallerye Anderson

Vallerye has worked in immigration law since 2011, first as a legal assistant and then as a licensed attorney. She represents clients in removal proceedings and with affirmative applications for relief, including asylum, Special Immigrant Juvenile Status, non-LPR cancellation, lawful permanent residency, family petitions, provisional waivers, U Visa, VAWA, and T Visas. Vallerye also represents detained clients with bond hearings and requests for de-escalation from the Alternatives to Detention “ISAP” program (i.e., removal of ankle monitors). 

Vallerye also has experience in submitting last-minute petitions to prevent the removal of clients with prior removal orders. She has successfully filed Motions to Reopen with the Immigration Court and petitions for Stays of Removal with Immigration and Customs Enforcement (“ICE”). She works hard to prevent her clients’ deportation and separation from their families.

Vallerye volunteers her time as Attorney of the Day for the juvenile, detained, and non-detained dockets at the San Francisco Immigration Court.  She serves as the USCIS Co-Liaison for the American Immigration Lawyers Association - Sacramento Chapter. Additionally, she provides free immigration consults for low-income residents at the Mexican Consulate in Sacramento and with the UC Davis Clinica Tepati in Sacramento. She volunteers her time at naturalization fairs and immigration clinics throughout the Sacramento area. She also provides immigration law updates and answers viewers’ questions on Univision 19 Sacramento.

Vallerye has a juris doctorate from McGeorge School of Law, where she graduated second in her class with Great Distinction and was awarded the “Outstanding Student Award”. She also holds a master’s degree in Community Development from University of California, Davis, where she received the “Judy Erwin Graduate Award for Excellence”. She is fluent in Spanish and has lived in Ecuador, South America, where she volunteered in reforestation, completed a semester abroad, and spent a year conducting socioecological research with a Fulbright scholarship.  

Vallerye is bilingual in English and Spanish. She is a member of AILA (American Immigration Lawyers Association) and licensed with the California State Bar and the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals.

Vallerye is an avid backpacker, snowboarder, hiker, and animal lover. 

Laura Garcia Gavilan

Laura was born and raised in Colombia and immigrated to the United States in 2004. As an immigrant herself, she has a first-hand understanding of the complexity of the immigration legal system. She is passionate about working with immigrants, learning their story, and finding creative solutions to help them legally immigrate to the United States.

Laura comes from a family of immigrants. Laura immigrated to the U.S. with her parents and two younger siblings in 2004. Laura’s mother and siblings immigrated as derivatives of her father’s work visa. Laura became a lawful permanent resident in 2007 and a naturalized U.S. Citizen in 2012. Laura met her husband in Colombia and he immigrated to the U.S. in 2016 along with his husky dog, born in Venezuela.

Laura is bilingual in English and Spanish. She received her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and Political Science from the University of California, Davis in 2009 and her Juris Doctor from the University of California, Davis School of Law in 2014.

She is a member of AILA (American Immigration Lawyers Association) and licensed with the California State Bar and the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals.

Laura represents clients with family-based petition cases, waivers of inadmissibility, and applications for citizenship. She has experience representing individuals applying for lawful permanent resident status within the U.S. and consular processing in Mexico, El Salvador, Guatemala and Venezuela. She also represents clients seeking humanitarian relief including asylum, U-Visas and VAWA.

Laura lives in Fairfield with her son, husband and two husky dogs. She enjoys hikes with her family and trips to the beach in the summer. Laura and her family speak Spanish at home, enjoy cooking Colombian food and visiting their home country every year.
